Bergamot sorbet with mint and lavender

Today, we’re taking you on a sensory journey through the taste and perfume of our region, Calabria. This refreshing citrus sorbet brings together the bold flavor of bergamot, the sweetness of orange, and a floral hint of lavender and mint. It’s incredibly simple to make, no ice cream maker needed!
All you need is fresh-squeezed bergamot and orange juice, a bit of natural syrup, and a sprinkle of springtime.

Ingredients

Simple steps, quality ingredients that’s all it takes. In particular:

  • Bergamot Juice or the juice of one orange
  • (or more, depending on taste)
  • Fresh mint leaves
  • Dried or fresh lavender flowers
  • Natural sweetener of your choice
  • (we love acacia honey or agave syrup for a clean, floral note)

Instructions

  • Juice the orange and bergamot, and pour the juices into separate ice cube trays.
  • Freeze until solid.
  • Once frozen, blend the citrus cubes with your preferred syrup, a few mint leaves, and a sprinkle of lavender.
  • Serve immediately in glass bowls or cups. Garnish with fresh mint and a few lavender petals for a beautiful, aromatic presentation.

Tip: Add a little extra fresh juice if you prefer a softer texture.

For an even bolder flavor, try making it with pure bergamot juice only, just make sure it’s the real deal from Reggio Calabria!
